What happens when children lose themselves so deeply within familial webs of deceit or betrayal that it becomes their 'normal'?....
What happens when children's hearts are ripped out of place and cast into a world that they can no longer trust?....
What happens when children feel so overwhelmed with challenges or trauma that they see no way out and therefore, feel they have nowhere to turn?....
Oftentimes...SILENCE happens - Nobody would have ever guessed!
....And then tragically when a child overreacts or acts out, everybody is dismayed!
....And they are very quick to hand out punishment or reprimand....Instead of seeing beyond the outbursts of rage or anger that have broken through the silence that have held this child hostage for so long...
SILENCE can speak volumes! SILENCE can be a cry for help!
I believe, as children spend so much time at school, it is really important for teachers to be more vigilant, and to read the 'unspoken' signs....
It is each and every one of our duty, as adults, to be that change for children struggling....It is our duty to give them renewed hope....It is our duty to reach out without judgement....And it is our duty to help heal a generation for a better tomorrow....
